Flower stool is a stool made from the Korean word 꽃, “flower”. It rediscovers the beauty of Hangeul and reinterprets, for today, a spirit of the past that valued nature and the calligraphic tradition of the Joseon dynasty. A flower stands for the beauty of life and the vitality of nature, and the word itself has a visual charm of its own. Repeated and rotated six times, the word takes on a sculptural presence in three dimensions, bringing the beauty of nature indoors through the form and meaning of its letters.

꽃 스툴은 ‘꽃’이라는 글자로 만든 스툴이다. 한글의 아름다움을 재발견하고 조선시대의 서예 전통과 자연을 중시했던 과거의 정신을 현대적으로 재해석했다. 꽃은 생명의 아름다움과 자연의 생동감을 상징하며 글자 자체의 시각적 매력이 있다. 글자를 여섯 번 반복 회전시켜 입체적인 조형미를 살리고 글자의 형태와 상징성을 통해 자연의 아름다움을 실내 공간에 담고자 했다.

YEKKI (Yechan Choi, b. 1995) is an artist based in Seoul who makes furniture and lighting. The work explores the many viewpoints an object can hold, giving form to ways of seeing that cannot be experienced in reality.

YEKKI(최예찬, 1995년생)는 서울에서 가구와 조명을 만드는 작가다. 사물이 가진 다양한 시점을 탐색하고, 현실에서는 경험할 수 없는 시각적 감각을 조형으로 구현하고자 한다.
